MCM Web Client
With minimal fuss, you can now connect to Multiverse Crisis MUSH from your
web browser.
What
you need:
- A modern browser such as Firefox
or Internet Explorer
- Java, specifically the Java Runtime Environment. If you don't have
it, it is available from Sun
Microsystems with automated installers. It is also built into the Opera web browser. To determine if
you have Java, check Sun's Java
Verifier.
- A fairly recent computer. While it will probably run on really old
installations, it may not - Java isn't exactly the kindest to system
resources or processing power.
- Though not required, broadband helps speed things up a lot for
startup, though it should have little to no bearing once the program
is started.
- The ability to type.
The link is below. The client is JamochaMUD. A stand-alone client is
available from their website.
Please note that it may ask for permission to use files on your computer.
This is so it can create a configuration file as well as any logs of
sessions you might want to make (a log being essentially a record of what
happened, copied from the client itself). It may also ask permission to
run on your machine despite having no valid signature. Truth be told, we
(like 99% of small-time web publishers) have no 'valid' signature, which
would likely be prohibitively expensive, as this usually requires getting
a very expensive cryptographic certificate with a verifying agency. You
will need to allow it to run.

Some quick notes:
- Disclaimer - like with most programs (mIRC, Windows,
Linux, etc.), if you decide to use this, we and JamochaMUD's creators are
not responsible if anything
bad happens from using this program. The only difference is we're not
putting it in super fine print in the license you probably didn't read
before clicking OK. We the MUSH administrators have put it up in
good faith and have tested it on our own computers without anything unusual.
We believe it to be safe. But if it starts World War III, eats your hamster,
or anything else, we're not responsible.
- This is not a magic solution to get past a firewall which
forbids
outside access. The connection is still made by your computer to the
MUSH.
- We CANNOT provide technical support. Those having
problems with the application itself are encouraged to visit the
documentation at the JamochaMUD
Project.
- This is not a substitute for reading the FAQ or any other MUSH documentation - it's still
required.
- Please keep in mind that this is not an IRC chat room. Typing
leik this lolzor stfun00b is likely not going to win you any
friends. While we don't demand perfection or anything close, please
put some effort into trying to make things legible at the very least.
- We do not accept applications from those below the age of 16. In
rare cases we may accept them from 15 year olds. In either case you
need permission from your parent or guardian to connect and apply.
This is mostly for legal reasons, plus the somewhat harsh nature of
what is RP'd on MCM (mostly some rather explicit violence and
language). As per the FAQ, the MUSH has no solid rating, though it
is between PG-13 and R, tending towards R. If you're below this age,
or you're below 18 and your parents come poking at us and tell us to give
you the boot,
that's what's going to happen.
- Again, if you are having problems, WE CANNOT PROVIDE TECHNICAL
SUPPORRT. If you're really interested in MUSHing, please
consider a native client such as MUSHClient or the stand-alone version
of JamochaMUD.
