*** Multiverse Crisis MUSH - Long Application, V 3.0 ***
1A) What is your name, or failing that, a well-known online alias? What is your real-life age?
2A) What previous roleplaying experience do you have? If you've played at (or still play at) other MUSHes, list your previous alts here. If you have any existing alts on MCM, please list them all here. Excepting your existing alts at MCM, this does not have to be comprehensive.
3A) This MUSH is based on the concept of consent-based roleplay. Please describe it in your own words.
4A) Where did you find out about us? This question is optional, but we'd like to know (i.e. MUDConnector, friends, etc.)
1B) Profile: Your "face" on the MUSH, and the information that people will receive when they +finger your character. The explanation of each profile field may be removed when the application is submitted, but other questions should be left intact as per normal.
Name: Self-explanatory. May not exceed 18 characters in length due to code limitations. Accented characters are not supported - sorry.
Faction: Self-explanatory. See News Setting/Factions - may also be Unaffiliated. Note that characters cannot receive a rank above 3 at chargen without special permission.
Function: Essentially your character's job summary. Think "Magus" or "Demon Hunter" - can be silly or serious.
Series: Your character's series and themelisting number. For example, Pokemon-6.
Rank: See News Characters/Rank - MOST characters who want to be affiliated with a faction but not military may take the Ally rank. Note that characters cannot receive a rank above 3 at chargen without fachead permission.
Quote: Something your character would say, whether derived from a canonical quote or made up on the spot.
Profile: A general summary of your character, which should be an even mix of personality, powers, history, and flaws. Should not be too long - this is a summary after all. For examples, try using +finger on players you see logged on.
2B) Is your character an FC, OFC, or OC? An FC is a character taken directly from a source theme (such as Cloud Strife) and usually closely adhering to canon. An OC is a completely original character, regardless of setting. An OFC is a character from an existing theme that has been significantly changed, whether it is the character or theme itself that has changed.
3B) List your character's +powers. For examples, use +powers on connected players. This should outline what your character is capable of, and while you don't have to include every spell your Wizard can cast, it should give an adequate picture of what they can do. Major resources, NPCs, equipment, etc, should all go here. Some powers (such as mind control) may require consent tags. This should be sub-divided into POWER NAME - POWER DESCRIPTION. If you need examples, check the +powers of other characters on the MUSH. Due to technical limitations, these cannot exceed 4kb in size.
4B) Fill in your character's +flaws. Flaws can be anything from physical weaknesses (kryptonite) to character flaws (prejudice, laziness, etc.). This need not be comprehensive- we don't need to know everything that's wrong with your character, and we won't bite your head off for forgetting something. We usually require at least three solid flaws on characters- if you need examples, check the +flaws of other characters on the MUSH. These should be formatted similar to +powers, and should not exceed 4kb in size.
5B) If a +themelisting does not already exist for your character, you will have to write one yourself. This should be a concise description of the universe from which the character comes, and if it is a modified/non-canon theme it should usually explain how it diverges from the original.
1C) Describe your character's personality. What is their outlook on life, and what motivates them? What do they find irritating, and what kind of hobbies do they engage in? Why are they in the faction they're in, and why would others enjoy RPing with this character? This is the most important part of the application - you don't have to write an essay, but you do have to give us a solid feel for the character.
2C) Name three adjectives that describe your character, and explain why each of them works.
3C) Give us the major points of your character's background. Please bear in mind that staff may not know about your character or their series, and probably isn't as enthusiastic about it as you are. We want to know how your character ended up where they are, but not about the flu they caught last week- so please keep it concise.
4C) Give us an example pose for the character for which you are applying. This should be at least 150 characters long, should include both action and dialogue, and should not focus on the combat proficiency of the character. If you want, you can make this an entire short RP, but it should reflect something typical your character might do.
5C) Please put your desired power level (or alternatively a range that you would feel acceptable) here. Any power level higher than 30 requires justification. 36 is the maximum that may be requested at chargen. Note that while the scale goes higher than this, even veteran players usually have to wait a month after applying to ask for higher.
6C) Finally, any other data pertinent to your character should go here. This may be left blank. Note that if you plan for your FC or OFC to be married at some point in the future, or are planning on having your character defection to/from a faction, or any other such action that might require administrative permission, INCLUDE IT HERE NOW. The best way to get to do what you want is to note it here well in advance.
Once you're done, submit this application to mcmush@gmail.com with a subject of, "Long Application - Character Name - Faction."
